As it's been forever since my last post I'll bring ye upto speed.
On Jan 12th 2009, I was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma, a type of cancer. The tumor infested my right shoulder-blade, but hasn't spread. Fortunatley, it's treatable. The plan was to go for chemotherapy every 3 weeks for 3 days at a time. After 6 sessions of chemo, I'd have surgery, then another 4 sessions of chemotherapy an i'd be all clear (more or less).
Once again, EPIC FAILURE
I had a terrible reaction to the chemotherapy. Which resulted in a bowel infection that nearly killed me. Spent 2 weeks in carlisle hospital. A few weeks later after the second session, I got a second infection. After another week in hospital, they let me out, and send me for more chemo, but it turns out that because they didn't treat the 2nd infection properly, it made 4 holes in my intestine. 10 hours of emergency surgery later, I have an open wound down my abdomen, a chunk of flesh as big as my fist missing just above my leg, and 3 calostamy bags, and I now have to be drip fed. Its gonna last a year till i can have my intestines put back together.
I've been in hospital for 9 weeks recovering. Due to all the fuck ups, they've brought my surgery date forward, so last week, they removed my shoulder blade and most of the muscle around it. They say i'll probably regain some control over my shoulder over time (about 30%).
So, at the moment I'm sat around in hospital waiting for them to sort out my home nutrition, which will take around 4 weeks, and then they should discharge me. Then there's the matter of the remaining 10 sessions of chemotherapy.
What a lame year.
